Preparing For Your Deliverance

… God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and … He went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with Him. Acts 10:38

Introduction

Many Christians today are under the power of the devil in various ways, some without realizing that the source of their oppression may be demonic. They may know Jesus and even worship Him, but they are not as free to serve Him as they could be. It is the mission of Isaiah 61 Ministries (I-61) to continue the ministry of Jesus, who, as prophesied in Isaiah 61:1-4, and fulfilled in Luke 4:17-19, came to release his followers from the bondage of Satanic oppression.

This booklet was prepared to assist persons desiring deliverance prayer to complete the Isaiah 61 Ministry Application and Worksheet. The booklet follows the flow of the Application and Worksheet section by section and provides instruction and supporting Scripture references to guide the ministry applicant.

This process takes time and should be approached seriously and prayerfully. Begin right now by asking Jesus and the Holy Spirit to help you each step of the way.

Roger H. Ford, Minister and Overseer, Isaiah 61 Ministries.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

I-61’s Approach to Ministry

Jesus drove out evil spirits from many who were oppressed by the devil, and He commissioned His followers to do the same. Sometimes an individual can be helped by deliverance from a single evil spirit or one area of spiritual oppression in their lives. Often, however, persons needing deliverance are experiencing multiple areas of struggle in their lives, including sin patterns that may have passed down from spiritual inheritance (like father, like son.)

Isaiah 61 prefers, therefore, to minister to the whole person, rather than only to a single area or felt need. This approach requires much preparation and time. The process, however, leads to a more full deliverance and greater spiritual freedom which is the reason Jesus came to rescue us! The following sections will help guide you as you complete the Ministry Application and Worksheet that are required for your prayer appointment.

Read Matthew 8: 16 & 10:1 + 7-8

A) Genogram: Your Ancestral Tree

After filling in the details on the front page you are asked to draw a genogram and describe your family. It is important to go back at least four generations if possible, even if the information is incomplete. Some ministry applicants interview family members or do genealogical research for this step, which can be very helpful for your ministry prayer appointment. Please list all known family (last) names of your ancestors.

Write down key points you remember or discover about your family members and ancestors that might be important on the next page, such as cause of or early deaths, addictions, divorce, etc. Briefly describe relationships with your spouse, parents and siblings. Note any patterns that might indicate a family curse. If you really do not know much about your family’s background, pray and ask the LORD to help you discover how to get this information.

Read Exodus 20:5, Jeremiah 2:9, 32:18 and Isaiah 65:6-7

B) Personal Testimony

The next page is for you to give your Christian testimony. Begin by briefly describing your early childhood upbringing. For example, were you raised in a Christian home? Did your family attend church, pray together, share devotions? Then, discuss your personal conversion experience and major milestones in your spiritual journey and growth. How confident are you in your relationship with Jesus? You may use additional sheets if necessary.

Read Matthew 10:32-33, Romans 10:9 and Ephesians 2:8

C) Personal Needs Assessment

The next section probes five areas of your life. Just as God is one Person in three parts (God the Father, Jesus Christ, His Son, and the Holy Spirit), mankind was also created in three parts, Body, Spirit, and Soul. (See 1 Thessalonians 5:23.) Our soul also consists of three parts, the mind, emotions, and will.

As you begin this section set aside one or more blocks of time when you are free from distractions and interruptions. Turn off your TV, computer and phones. Then pray and ask Jesus to search you, area by area of your life. You might want to focus on just one or two areas at a time, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you give Him permission and time to do so.

Read Psalms 26:2, 139:23-24, Jeremiah 33:3 and Revelation 3:20

BODY: infirmities needing physical healing.

The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:5b

SPIRIT: repeated sins and struggles.

No one who lives in Him keeps on sinning. 1 John 3:6

MIND: wrong thinking and ungodly thoughts that disturb you, including dreams.

…the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law… Romans 8:6-7

EMOTIONS: open wounds from traumas and emotional struggles in your life.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3

WILL: areas of your life which you have been unable or unwilling to submit fully to the LORD.

Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Psalm 19:13

Write down the ideas that come to you as you meditate on the five areas under the appropriate sections on your application.

D) Checklist

The next part of your application is to review a diagnostic checklist on behalf of yourself and your ancestors (to the best of your knowledge). Pray before you begin this part of the application.

Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you in truth as you go through the checklist marking with an “X” every item that is a current issue or struggle for you (either in reality or a temptation). Then go through the checklist again and mark a “P” all items that applied to you in the past. Finally, mark every item with an “A” that applies to one or more of your ancestors.

Leave nothing in darkness. If you are not sure about any item and want to discuss it with your prayer ministry team, mark it with a “?”

Read 1 John 1:5-9 and Proverbs 28:13.

E) Gates of Entry for Demonic Oppression

The final step in preparing your ministry application is to complete the 12 gates of entry for demonic oppression. This section represents your personal prayer petition which you will present to the Lord with the support of your Isaiah 61 ministry team.

Read Daniel 9:3-19

Your petition will be used twice during your ministry appointment. First, to guide you as you confess, repent and renounce all sins of yourself and your ancestors, and, to break every agreement with Satan. Second, your prayer team will use the petition to test for and expel any evil spirits that may have been oppressing you.

Read I John 4:1 and James 4:7

Review the checklist, along with sections A, B, and C of the application, and transfer the specific sins into your petition, section by section, beginning with Gate 1. Each gate will be explained briefly, below.

Gate 1 – Ancestral Sins

The Bible clearly teaches that God views us not only as individuals, but also as part of a family. God warns us that not only will He punish us for our sins, but He will also punish our children and grandchildren.

Read Exodus 20:5 & 34:7, Deuteronomy 5:9 & 28:15+18, Jeremiah 16:10-11 and 32:18

Therefore, we need to confess and repent on behalf of our ancestors (generational repentance) in order to break the curses (consequences) of their sins upon us. Jesus became a curse for us on the cross in order to break all our curses, but this is not automatic, just as salvation is not automatic. We must ask for it, and ask for it with specificity (sin by sin).

Read Leviticus 26:40-42, Nehemiah 1:6-7 and Jeremiah 14:20

Write down each ancestral sin you are aware of (following sections A-D of your application) into the 1st gate section of the worksheet. Certain types of sins can be grouped into the major headings, including False Worship and Occult, Relationship and Sexual Sins, Other Sins and Addictions, Emotional Problems, and Physical Infirmities.

Gate 2 – Personal Sins

The next gate is for you to list all of your personal sins. These may also be listed under the major group headings, as in the Ancestral Sins section.

Note: You must write down every item you checked for yourself personally – both current and past struggles, on the Personal Sins page, so that your petition is complete.

Read Psalm 32:1-5, 1 John 1:5-10 and James 5:13-16

Gate 3 – Sins of Others Against You

This gate investigates any areas of unforgiveness in your life for the sins of others against you. The Bible clearly teaches that we must forgive others if we expect God to forgive our sins. Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to show you anyone for whom you may be holding a judgment and need to forgive, and write their names under gate 3.

Read Matthew 6:14-15

Gate 4 – Traumas

Gate 4 explores any areas of your life, from early childhood to present, where you may have been wounded by trauma – such as an accident, frightening experience, loss of a loved one, or similar. These traumas can create openings for the devil to infect our memories or our body.

Ask the Lord to guide you as you review your life’s experience to record any areas of trauma that you would like Jesus to heal.

Read Psalm 64:1, 142:2 and Matthew 5:43-45

Gate 5 – Soul Ties

Soul ties are connections between people. Godly soul ties can be thought of as bonding, whereas soul ties that are ungodly can be thought of as bondage. Satan can use ungodly soul ties to influence our thoughts, feelings, and behavior.

Soul ties can be created by sexual, emotional or other behaviors, wherever that behavior between two or more people was contrary to the law of God. Sexual activity outside of marriage is forbidden by the Bible, and, as such, all sexual soul ties must be renounced and broken.

Review your known and “possible” soul tie relationships and list them on your worksheet. First names are adequate to break them (or some other descriptor if you do not recall a name). If the Lord prompts you to recall a person or possible soul tie situation, but you are not sure, write it down and let your prayer team test the spirit behind that memory.

Read Matthew 19:4-6, 1 Corinthians 6:16, 7:4 and 15:33.

Gate 6 – Vows

Vows, curses, and dedications are verbal (or written) statements that bind us to certain consequences. Our wedding vows are a good example, which contain blessings for our obedience to those vows. Vows to follow other gods or vows which bind us to ungodly persons, institutions, or behaviors have devastating consequences.

Obvious examples are a vow to worship Satan or some other god or vows to join a secret society. Other examples would include a vow to love someone forever or never forgive someone who hurt you. Ask the Lord to reveal to you any vows you have made which need to be renounced and write them down under gate 6.

Read Numbers 30:2, Deuteronomy 23:21-23 and Ecclesiastes 5:4-5

Gate 7 – Curses

Similar to vows, curses can be put upon us by others or by ourselves. Someone can become cursed by a school teacher or parent who says that he is stupid, or will never be good at sports, math, etc. Curses can also be inherited from ancestors for disobedience, such as a curse of poverty or a certain kind of hereditary illness. More subtle curses can come from statements we make in anger, such as “I will never be like my mom.” This is, in fact, a judgment which may result in the person becoming just like her mother.

Pray and write down any curses the Lord may reveal that you need to break.

Read Deuteronomy 28:15-67 and Matthew 7:1-2

Gate 8 – Dedications

God’s law is absolute, and, Satan is legalistic. He can only harass us when he has been given a legal right to do so. Any vow to worship another god is serious and binding to the 4th generation. When another god is honored in any way (taking an oath, giving money to a temple, false priest, medium, etc.) this can be a dedication and should be renounced. List any such dedications you or your ancestors may have made under gate 8.

Read Exodus 20:1-4, Leviticus 26:1, Deuteronomy 5:7 and John 14:6

Gate 9 – Ungodly Beliefs (UGBs)

Ungodly beliefs are any thoughts or parts of our belief system that are not consistent with the Word of God and His promises to people who follow and obey Him. UGBs can become so deeply rooted in our thinking that we might not even realize they are there; but others may pick up on them by our words and actions.

Our UGBs are expressed or held as absolute truths, which become bondage until we break agreement with them. Examples include, “I am a failure,” “no one could ever love me,” “I am clumsy,” or “no one can ever know for sure if God exists.” Pray and ask the Lord to reveal to you any UGBs that you should break. Perhaps you can ask a family member or close friend help you identify UGBs since sometimes others can see these in us easier that we can see them ourselves.

Read Proverbs 23:7 (KJV), 26:2, Amos 3:3 and 2 Peter 2:19

Gate 10 – Unclean Things (UCTs), Places

Scripture is clear that God is angry whenever His people associate themselves with anything that He has called unclean. The last three gates are for you to identify any involvement whatsoever with unclean things where you might have opened yourself to transference of spirits from these UCTs, from places, objects and your five senses.

Begin by listing any unclean places you may have visited, including temples, haunted houses, brothels, prisons, etc. Even places you visited for ministry or tourism purposes should be listed if the Bible would call them unclean.

Read Isaiah 52:11 and 2 Corinthians 6:17

Gate 11 – Unclean Things (UCTs), Objects

Next, consider and write down any unclean objects you may own or have handled. These could be objects intended for false worship, witchcraft, Occult games, or items of an immoral nature such as pornographic books or videos.

Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to remind you of any unclean things you have owned or handled at any time throughout your life.

Read Deuteronomy 7:5-6, 2 Kings 23, Acts 19:19 and 1 Corinthians 10:20

Gate 12 – Unclean Things (UCTs), 5 Senses

Finally, ask the Lord to help you search your heart so that you can list and renounce anything unclean that has entered you through your five senses: eyes, nose, ears, mouth, and touch, and list them under the last Gate.

Some examples include horror movies, demonically-inspired music, pornography, idols, drugs and alcohol.

Read Ezekiel 20:7-8 and 2 Corinthians 7:1

Completing Your Application

When you have completed the document, pray over it and set it aside for one or a few days. Ask the Lord to reveal anything else that you should write down during that time. Then pick up the application and go through it prayerfully again.

Once you have done so, pray, sign the front page and return it to Isaiah 61 through your personal contact. Please know that your application will be treated confidentially and will only be reviewed by the prayer team assigned to assist you. Should you desire to keep a copy of your application, please copy it before you submit it to us, as your application will not be returned after your appointment.

Preparing For Your Prayer Appointment

As you prepare for your appointment you are encouraged to pray, read your Bible and fast. These disciplines will help your ministry session tremendously.

Finances

Finally, many people ask if there is a charge for your prayer time. Isaiah 61 Ministries’ philosophy of money comes from Matthew 10:1-8, where Jesus sends out his disciples to Preach, Heal the Sick, and Drive out Demons. We call this Jesus’ PHD ministry. Then He tells his followers “freely you have received, freely give.” (See Matthew 10:8). Therefore, Isaiah 61 does not charge a fee for prayer appointments, but, rather, we depend on free will offerings to support the work of this ministry.

While Jesus did not charge for ministry, He did ask people who had been touched by His ministry to offer a gift to the priest as Moses commanded (see Matthew 8:4 & Luke 5:14). We are blessed to receive whatever offering you would freely share with us, as the Lord puts on your heart. You will find a reply form in the back of this booklet.

May God bless you!

“This is what the LORD says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged… For the battle is not yours, but God’s… You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you… Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out and face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.’” 2 Chronicles 20:15-17.
